Many Meetings across Canada are excited about their growing numbers and the fresh energy it brings. However, some Meetings find it challenging to offer proper support to newcomers. Joining something as unfamiliar as Meeting for Worship can be intimidating without support.
Canadian Yearly Meeting will host a session on welcoming newcomers to Meeting for Worship on May 27. We will share examples of what some Meetings are doing, the materials they provide, and the experiences they’ve had. We will discuss common challenges and success stories, and ask for ideas on how Canadian Yearly Meeting can support Monthly Meetings. We’d also love to hear from any newcomers about your first experiences coming to a Quaker Meeting in Canada, and what you might have wished for.
