Online event: Quaker ‘Pocket Thoughts’ – Affinity Groups

Wednesday, March 11, at 4pm Pacific, 5pm Mountain, 6pm Central, 7pm Eastern, 8pm Atlantic, 8:30 Newfoundland.

For the last few years, Canadian Yearly Meeting’s Program Committee has offered Affinity Groups as a community-building space within the Yearly Sessions.

In an Affinity Group, Friends gather around a shared aspect of their material identities to share personal stories and experiences without as much need for explanation or justification. Gwen Anderson and Steve Ginley of Program Committee will facilitate the Pocket Thoughts event by sharing their experiences of Affinity Groups.

Friends are invited to read the following articles from Friends Journal about the Affinity Group practice: Centering BIPOC Voices in Quakerism – The Power of Affinity Spaces; BIPOC Affinity as Witness – The Sacred Work of BIPOC Quaker Worship
